Hand protection specialist Unigloves UK has achieved a silver medal award from EcoVadis – the World’s most trusted provider of sustainability ratings – placing it in the top 15% of companies worldwide that have been rated.

EcoVadis assessed and evaluated Unigloves’ operations against 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. More than 125,000 companies globally have been rated by EcoVadis.

EcoVadis' business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard. The ratings provide an evidenced-based analysis on performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.

Unigloves UK MD Chris Wahlers said he was delighted the team had achieved such a high rating at the first assessment by EcoVadis and believed that reflected Unigloves’ growth ambitions to be ‘the leading and most responsible hand protection manufacturer in the world’.
“We are really very proud to have achieved the silver rating at first time of asking. EcoVadis is recognised as one of the globe’s largest and most respected sustainability ratings assessors and we saw this an opportunity for Unigloves to show how seriously we take our commitment to the way we operate and the ever-growing importance that minimising our impact on the environment is shaping how we work – whilst being continually committed to supporting our customers in keeping their workforce safe through our range of hand protection solutions."
“It’s a lengthy and comprehensive process to apply for – and looked closely at key areas of our business including sustainability certifications and audit processes, our approach to health and safety, diversity, environmental practices and measures, waste management and carbon reduction initiatives and monitoring to name but a few,” said Chris.
“This now provides us with a measure of where we are and a route map to where we want to be in terms of our continued approach to the environment, sustainability and responsible manufacturing,” added Chris.
