Team members from Unigloves have given a helping hand to the Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Clean initiative.
Employees and their family members joined together on Pegwell Bay Beach, Ramsgate for a Unigloves team day which saw them collect a wide array of items that had been washed up or left on the beach including plastics, food packaging, metal cans and tins, and commercial fishing nets.
The initiative was part of Unigloves’ growing focus on sustainability – both in the number of products it manufactures using recycled materials, its approach to reducing unnecessary packaging and its growing use of renewable energy across its global sites.
To help keep hands safe, everyone on the beach clean was equipped with a choice of Unigloves’ latest sustainable range – Nitrex RP – which is manufactured using recycled plastics in addition to its biodegradable BioTouch Nitrile glove, designed to biodegrade within 490 days following disposal.
“It was fantastic for us to get together and take part in the Marine Conservation Society’s beach clean initiative. Both as a team and with our families, it was great to be able to give something back to the local environment in which we live and work. As a business we are putting a growing emphasis on sustainability in terms of what we make, how we make it and package it and the resources that we use, so these types of days are important to us and will be featuring more often,” said Unigloves MD Chris Wahlers.
As part of its approach to sustainability, Unigloves has also teamed up with climate action organisation Ecologi, and with Plastic Bank who build recycling ecosystems in under-developed communities to fight both plastic pollution in oceans, as well as high poverty levels in developing countries.
Unigloves is based at Gillingham Business Park and provides businesses across the UK, Europe, and the World with a range of hand protection solutions designed for a wide array of industrial work places, using material technologies to provide cut, chemical, thermal, and electrical hand protection.
